Testing Noro PL Signature Guitar: stability and pickups - Part 3

During the last week finished two new recording sessions to demonstrate the latest improvements on my Noro PL signature guitar.

The recent tuning activity done on the guitar has been focused on improving the use of the whammy bar. The final goal is to have a guitar that make easier playing styles similar to guitarists such as Jeff Beck, Allan Holdsworth, Michael Landau or Scott Henderson.

To achieve this result, I changed different settings of the bridge and particularly for the springs. Considering I’m currently using D'Addario EXL120-10P strings with a half-step down tuning (Eb) and now I have the following configuration for the springs for the bridge:

Springs setting for the bridge

Springs setting for the bridge

Using this configuration I think I reached a significant improvement having a more smooth whammy bar and a very good tuning stability at the same time. Before going on further tests and settings, I recorded two new sessions to share how the guitar currently sounds:

Dolemite (live audio session)

This is a live audio session where I played this great tune by Scott Henderson using a backing track created by Henrik Larsen. This is a very interesting tune for testing the guitar because we find a lot of hammer-ons and pull-offs, altered pentatonics and bendings.

All Blues (live video session)

In this second session I recorded All Blues but in a different version where I played two times the final tunraround in each chorus, trying to play a mixed style among Beck / Landau / Henderson.

I found this altered version of All Blues from a live session by Dee Dee Bridgewater in Paris and I have to thank Eva Jones for making me discover this masterpiece!

This time I recorded in real time on a video to show how the guitar reacts to an intensive use of the whammy bar and how it’s easy to manage. I have to confess that using the whammy bar on this guitar is very comfortable!

We are very happy to share any improvement we make on this beautiful Super Strat, feel free to comment or contact us for any feedback!!!
